The deli here looks particularly blah with the beige wall and lack of backsplash tile. The limited contrast between the sign and the wall, coupled with the spotlights washing it out, make the deli sign recede into the background. Meanwhile, the bulkhead that the sign is on, along with the already lowered ceiling in this area, makes it feel really closed off and claustrophobic. All in all, I don't feel like the design in this area was ever a good idea, and the remodel was certainly not executed very well here!
