Toys and food

In one of the more bizarre scenes from this closing sale, the store's toy department was moved into the food aisle, right next to the Kcoolers. Apparently, the store's whole food selection (what little that was) had sold out by this time.

On a side note, how's this whole COVID-19 thing going for you guys? All my classes have been cancelled or moved online for this last week, and I've been told that I have to work from home for the foreseeable future, so I guess I'll be cooped up in my apartment for a while now. I'm really not sure it's actually such a big deal, but the scary part is just how many unknowns there still are at this point, so it's really hard for me to say how much everyone should be worried!

  1. I'm not worried at all about COVID-19, but Purell is really reaping the benefits of this. The store I work at has been sold out of hand sanitizer for the last week, and people are buying the stuff by the case as it comes off the truck. I think it's more hype than anything, as the common flu is deadlier than COVID-19. It's not changing any of my plans. Florida has only had three reported cases, and none of them were very bad.

  2. Tennessee had its first reported case yesterday. I'm not aware of much panic in these parts but from what I've seen on my local news app they keep airing multiple stories on it and preparedness efforts. I've been trying to wash my hands for the appropriate amount of time since that's a hard habit to get into. My spring break is next week and I'm not sure if we're traveling anywhere or not, we haven't made plans yet. (By "travel" I mean like a 3-hour drive at most lol, so not overseas or anything, but still)

  3. I'm really not that concerned either to be honest, but there's certainly a lot of fear around here! Panic-buying is certainly a thing (especially at Costco from what I've heard) and I just got word that the UW is cancelling/moving online all classes for the last week of the quarter as well as finals week, which is a pretty big step (especially for the UW, which is known to be very inflexible about cancelling classes, even in situations like snow days where it's very much warranted). I was dead-set on not changing my plans too, but then they got changed for me, so not much I can do about it...
