4th and Virginia, at night

I hadn't really been planning on taking after-closing pictures here, since there wasn't much interesting to see and it was hard getting a good view inside during the day, but I ended up at this spot one night, probably on my way home from some other retail adventure, and noticed that the store was still all lit up, making for surprisingly good conditions for photography! Even the exterior pictures turned out better than expected for my iPod camera.

It's the first of the month, so it's time for another music recommendation! This month's pick is the second-to-newest album from Cold War Kids, LA Divine. I'm also looking for some feedback here -- does anyone actually like me putting together these recommendations? I just started it to copy what seemed like pretty much everyone else, and it certainly doesn't take much effort on my part, but I haven't heard from anyone about them for quite some time now, so if it's just pointless filler on my part, let me know so I don't have to keep distracting people with this!

  1. I've been wondering the same thing about my music recommendations, honestly! What I'd been doing in the past was writing down lists of songs on paper in order to post them in the future, so I've still got a large number of lists left to share. But I stopped writing down lists a couple of months ago, and haven't resumed since then. Thinking about discontinuing them as a regular feature myself once the lists run out, although it is hard not to share sometimes when the music is really great! Like Cold War Kids, for example... :) (I need to get more albums of theirs!)

    1. I've certainly used your lists to jog my memory about older bands that I should listen to again, but I'll admit that I've rarely checked out ones I've never heard of before. (I probably should, since it sounds like our musical tastes overlap rather significantly!) Of course, your posts have a much wider reach than mine, so it's more likely someone will see them and get value out of it...

    2. I'm the same way - I rarely explore those bands I haven't heard of on music lists. Like you said though, there's a good chance I'll like them, based on the other bands I do know on the same lists! And isn't that the whole reason we're posting lists in the first place - to get others to try new stuff we like - so isn't it hypocritical not to do the same for others' lists? I'm overthinking this way too much, of course, but the main point is either I'm too lazy or don't have time to check out the unknown stuff. Which is a shame.
