In the cave

Clearly, the lighting is not nearly as good inside the frozen department itself! Unlike most Grocery Palace stores I've seen online, which have either a drop or grid ceiling in frozen, this store's frozen department is open to the roof like the rest of the store (though with a whole structural system in between that may have been intended to hold a decorative ceiling of some sort). While the decor on the outside is pretty nice, the interior of frozen is not particularly attractive, with no real decor and the ugly structure of the soffit completely exposed. The layout of the frozen cases, with the cut-through in the middle of the aisle, is another thing that is still present in many ex-Grocery Palace stores -- not sure why Albertsons decided to do that just in the frozen department and not in the rest of the store, but whatever...

  1. I'm not too sure why the ceiling is like that. But I have a feeling that it had the wooden grid thing, which was probably removed at some point.
