S.S. Shilshole

As you've probably already noticed, this mural has a strong nautical theme to it, with the centerpiece (at least of this part) being a submarine with a dog in it (or at least that's what I think it is...). The S.S. Shilshole name on the sub is a reference to Shilshole Bay (a marina on the west side of Ballard) and/or Shilshole Ave (a street along the industrial waterfront on the south end of Ballard) -- the latter being rather infamous among the Seattle transportation community due to the never-ending saga of the Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link (just google it, I don't have the energy to dig into that right now!).
