QFC really made the most of the weird space left at the back of the store, turning it into an extra-fancy dairy and meat department. This is one of the few stores where dairy feels like a real department rather than just products thrown into whatever space is available (the traditional Safeway layout is really bad for that, with dairy split between the milk cases on the back wall and everything else in an aisle by frozen, but many other stores do the same thing). The one rather odd touch is the old-fashioned coffin coolers used for promotional items in the middle of the department -- that's something you really don't see much anymore (except in older Albertsons stores), and especially not in brand new stores like this.
Funny, coffin coolers are still popular around here, especially in actionways.
ReplyDeleteInteresting... it seems like the fancier (and more space-efficient) mid-height cases are much more popular around here these days. That being said, I do have a rather small sample size of new stores!
