One of the big differentiating factors of these Diamond Windows stores from the ones that came before them was the drive-through pharmacy. While it's a super common thing these days, I'm sure it seemed pretty innovative when these stores were being built (few if any of the converted Payless locations originally had these), and I suspect they were a fairly major factor in Rite Aid's desire to replace many of their old strip mall locations with new stand-alone stores. I've always liked how well the signs are integrated into the overall architecture of these Diamond Windows stores as well.
See something interesting in the background? Yep, that's the similarly-ancient Fred Meyer Marketplace right next door! Clearly, this little shopping center is a real gold mine for relics. Tacoma has traditionally been one of the more, shall we say, economically disadvantaged parts of the region, and this area doesn't seem great even by Tacoma standards, so I'm sure that has something to do with that. Still, pretty cool for me!

Please, no more anthropomorphic food items!
