This store was built in 1965 as part of what is now called the Lake Forest Park Town Center, a mini-mall that's the closest the suburb has to a downtown core. Albertsons appears to have been an original anchor tenant of the shopping center, though it's down at the end of the strip mall wing and not in the mall proper. While this certainly isn't the most interesting looking store these days, the whole center looked much different when it was built -- this video provides a look at the early days of the mall, with a cool aerial shot starting around 1:13 followed immediately at a look at the original Albertsons exterior.
Is it bad that this reminds me of a Super Kmart Center?
ReplyDeleteHmm, wouldn't have ever thought of that since I don't think we had those around here! This store's just over 30,000 square feet, though, so your scale might be a little off 😉
DeleteLOL! Yep, scale's definitely way off on that XD Architecturally, though, I just can't stop seeing the similarities!
