For me, one of the coolest things to see here was the original Blue and Grey Market aisle markers. As plain as they are, they're really nothing like anything from any other decor package I can think of, and for some reason they're one of the things that stuck in my memory from way back when my Port Angeles store had this decor package.
Notice anything interesting about the ceiling here? Yes, this happens to be a Marina Albertsons! Apparently, when this store was built (and yes, it was built as an Albertsons - I was convinced for a while that it had to have once been a Safeway), they decided to blatantly rip off the distinctive Safeway design and build their own version. Honestly, I'm not sure how many of these were built (this is the only example I've found in the Seattle area, but I'm not great with historical research, so there could easily be others hiding from me), but Albertsons stores built in this time period had all sorts of different styles, so I suppose it isn't too surprising that they decided to copy Safeway's look at least once. Hard to imagine something like this happening in today's world, however!
